Love addiction is a disease that stems from childhood trauma and attachment wounds. Love addiction governs how people experience and behave in their primary relationships, often making it difficult for love addicts to experience true intimacy and joy in these relationships.
Love addiction grows out of codependence, which has the primary core symptoms of:
- low self-esteem
- inability to set appropriate boundaries
- difficulty owning one's own self-identity and reality
- challenges with self-care
- lack of ability in expressing one's reality appropriately
Codependents also struggle with negative control, resentment, impaired spirituality, intimacy, compulsive behaviors, and physical or mental illness.
